Citrus Collection
You wouldn’t normally associate Scotland with citrus fruits. No, and quite right too with our cool temperate maritime climate. Historically, it didn’t stop the well-to-do in the olden days from trying to grow them – they were positively fashionable in the 18th century. So you’ll find the remains of orangeries at a number of places, for example, Newbattle Abbey House and also at Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, the National Trust for Scotland’s most popular property.
