Bog myrtle

We’ve got soft spot for bog myrtle, also called sweet gale. Sometimes we break off a sprig and keep it in the car on our road home from the Highlands. It grows in wet places and has willow-like leaves and a, frankly, gorgeous scent. Said to be very effective at keeping the Scottish midge away. But it’s really just the essence of the Scottish Highlands. If you know this part of country, you’ll smell this scent and get all nostalgic, even in the shower.
